Memoir
Sarah Jane Davison, daughter of Ira nd Catherine Davison, was born near Charles City, Indiana, July 28, 1834, and died at Milford September 23, 1905, aged seventy-one years, one month and twenty-five days. She was married to Thomas Cook March 13, 1853, and to this union there were born seveteen children, five of whom survive their parents, viz: Ira D., of Watseka, Mrs. Mary E. Everman, Rufus, Virgil and Moses, of Milford. She had been in poor health for a number of years, and since last April she had been confined to her bed. She was patient and trustful during these long months of sickness, and it was a pleasure to visit her, so full of hope seemed her very face and words. She united with the Methodist Episcopal Church when a young woman, having first experienced in her heart the power of Jesus to save from sin. She took great delight in the serivces of God's house before affliction shut her away from these privileges, and then, with her Bible in her hands, and with heart uplifted to God in prayer, she found that peace that passeth understanding, which sustained her during these days of trial. The funeral services were held from residence Monday at 1 o'clock p.m. conducted by her pastor, Rev. S.P. Archer, assisted by Rev. P. Baker. The interment was made in the Sugar Creek cemetry. The family have the sympathy of friends and neighbors in this great sorrow.
