Reeves, 66 prominent and highly respected Milford resident and county supervisor for Milford Twp., who died Saturday morning at Iroquois hospital following an illness, will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Milford Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles J. Kinrade, pastor, and the Rev. Hugh Kelly, pastor of the Milford Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery at Milford. Masonic rites will be conducted. Born in Milford Twp. on Aug. 7, 1890, he was the son of Jarvis and Iva Ellender Harness Reeves. He married Bertha Larkins on Nov. 19, 1911 at Donovan. Mr. Reeves was graduated from Milford High school and Illinois State Normal University adn taught school in Iroquois county for more than 25 years. He created the Reeves Insurance Agency and was a real estate broker and employed by the state of Il as a stamp, cigarette and liquor investigator. Upon retiring from teaching, he became in 1939 Milford Twp. supervisor and held that office until time of death. Mr. Reeves was a member of the Milford Methodist Church, Milford Lodge No. 168 AF & AM; a member and past patron of Golden Chapter No. 59 Order of Eastern Star; the Danville Consistory; Springfield Shrine; Watseka Lodge No. 179; BPO Elks; Milford Odd Fellows Lodge; Milford Rebeka Lodge; a member of the advisory board of the Il Public Aid Commission; a member of the Iroquois County Welfare Service board; secretary-treasurer of the Iroquois County Housing board and for many years a member of the Milford grade school board of education. Mr. Reeves served in efficient capacity in many welfare organizations throughout the county possessing a natural interest that brought about this wide participation and service to his fellow men. Surviving are his wife; four sons, Eugene, Robert, Maynard and James and a daughter, Mrs. John Wood all of Milford; six grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Nora Jenkins of Gotherburg, NE; brother Charles Reeves of Milford; and several nephews. His parents, three brothers and sister preceded him in death. | ||||||||||||
